Each time I buy a new pen follows a moment of appropriation. What's its thickness? What happens when I draw over another line? Is the ink liquid or viscous?

Through all these questions, I try to understand the texture that is in each tool and which shape vocabulary is most relevant.

I decided to compile this research into contact sheets plotted with different tools.

Want to try with your own tools? You can download the first contact sheet file right here! Other will follow soon!

You can use this contact sheet to see the effects of opacity, filling, volume created.

Don’t hesitate to use it with your own tools and share it with me at @arnaudpfef and #generativehut !

Here are the pen and brushes I use for this sample :

Concentric circles

Rotation line

Spiral pattern

Gradient shape

@melon sandbox: This article is very helpful for those who are new to plotting. The idea of creating a contact sheet to experiment with different pen thicknesses, ink colors, and effects saves time and explores more creative possibilities.
